Services

Andrew represents clients in court, during negotiations and routinely assists in advising on litigation strategy, case management and offers of settlement.

Advice can be provided in writing or face to face in Chambers or at a venue convenient to the client.

Andrew also routinely assists clients in the preparation of documents such as letters to the other side or documents which must be filed in court.

All cases must be the subject of an assessment that the case is suitable for direct access. Barristers are under a professional obligation to decline direct access instructions if it is considered that in the individual case the client would be better served by a solicitor. There is therefore a 30 minute preliminary telephone interview in all cases which is charged at £75 plus vat (£15) so that the barrister is able to make this assessments.

Fees

Barristers work on a fixed fee system which is commonly cheaper than the hourly rate, taxi meter system used by many firms of solicitors. The client negotiates a fixed fee for the work in advance with the barrister and pays in advance for the work. This avoids the prospect of being presented with an unexpected bill for the work after the case has ended.
